Pesky subs keep slipping out of their ties, or concerned about them getting stuck forever? Have you experimented a bit, but looking for tips and tricks to integrate it more seamlessly into your sessions? Well - join your facilitator Dirtyboots to come and learn the ropes, so to speak! We'll go over a few of the basic ties, safety and rope 101, as well as strategies for ensuring you and your partner(s) have a hot session - regardless of what else you might be tied up in. This is one you won't want to miss! This workshop is offered at a sliding scale with a suggested ticket price of $20, those navigating barriers to financial wellness are welcome to contribute a reduced rate, no one turned away for lack of funds. *** The first half will cover safety, theory, and approaches to rope bondage, things to keep in mind, health considerations, and how to create safety and trust in a scene. The second half will be all hands-on, and we'll cover basic quick-ties, the fundamental ties of rope bondage, as well as a few basic harnesses. **We will not be covering any kind of suspension ties, as this is a beginner's class and suspension requires some level of expertise and far more safety considerations.** Partners, lovers, and friends welcome. You can bring a buddy or show up solo and get paired up on arrival. There will be no nudity during this workshop, however obviously much of the material is suited to more adult audiences. There may be dildos/other prothesis' for demonstration purposes. Sections of rope will be provided to participants to practice with. There will be some new sections of rope available for sale at the event. Participants are also welcome to bring your own rope, provided that it is over 5-6mm in diameter. You're encouraged to bring cotton or a natural fibre rope (hemp, jute, etc), as they are generally easier and more comfortable to work with than polypropylene or nylon varieties, however you're welcome to work with whatever you prefer. ***IMPORTANT NOTE *** Participants are encouraged to arrive on time. Arrivals after the section on safety has started will not be admitted, as safety protocols are necessary for the hands-on portion of the workshop. We thank you for your understanding and diligence on this matter. ******* ACCESSIBILITY: 10C is a fully accessible space with elevators, gender neutral and accessible washrooms, and automatic doors. There will be a someone at the front door (on Carden Street) to let you into the building and welcome you! We have a limited number of cushioned chairs for the workshop, please reserve this for the folks who require them. Feel free to bring laptops, notebooks, or whatever feels comfortable for you. There will be handouts provided and an option to have resources sent to participants digitally. You do not need to bring a laptop(!) the notes will be limited and mostly included in the handout. This workshop is open to people of all abilities! If you use mobility devices or any other kind of accessibility aid, you can still have fun with rope! We'll work collaboratively to ensure you leave with skills relevant to what you're working with ;) There is some fine motor skill requirements when it comes to tying knots and playing with rope - this may be a barrier for some. You are welcome to attend and engage with the demonstrations and practice sessions as much or as little as you'd like! *** Dirtyboots is a local queer, trans, kinkster with a special love for rope. They've facilitated thousands of workshops and work from an anti-oppressive, feminist framework, with an emphasis on sex-positive, trans-inclusive and polyamory-friendly approaches. They have a knack for seamlessly integrating the need (and strategies) for self and awareness of others, with consent, creativity and ingenuity into their workshop approach. *** ACCESSIBILITY - pay-what-you-can options - physically accessible location - scent-free - accessible by public transit - LGBTQ2IA+ performers - all gender washrooms - sober space - FREE 10Carden QueerEvents America/Toronto public
