Hamilton lgbtq2sia+ Needs Assessment Town Hall

Members of Hamilton’s Two Spirit and LGBTQ+ communities are invited to a community consultation and report-back with the Hamilton LGBTQ2SIA+ Needs Assessment Survey Committee.
We will present the initial survey findings and are looking for your input to help determine the direction and key areas of focus for the final report.

Background: In the summer of 2016 a group of community activists and organizers began the process of planning and implementing a far-reaching and representationally diverse community needs assessment survey. The intention behind this project was to generate a report that reflected the diversity of these communities and reflected their diverse needs as accurately as possible, by ensuring data was collected from as many Two Spirit and LGBTQ+ Hamiltonian’s as possible.

With institutional support from McMaster University and The AIDS Network, this grassroots community-lead survey elicited responses from nearly one thousand individual Two Spirit and LGBTQ+ people who live, work or play in Hamilton.

The survey closed in November 2018, the data has now been collected and analyzed we are able to share our preliminary findings. As a part of our ongoing commitment to community involvement and accountability, we are inviting people who identify as Two Spirit and LGBTQ+ to a town hall meeting where we can discuss these preliminary findings, and get community input to help shape the use of the collected data and determine the findings that should be included in the final report.
