Queer Podcast Club
Queer Events is rolling out a new Queer Podcast Club!
For our initial edition we'll be featuring an 8 week event series starting on June 15th, 2021.
Our first series will explore and discuss CBC's Uncover: The Village. This is an investigative podcast that discusses Bruce MacArthur, Toronto's Queer history, marginalization within the Queer community, and Queer relationships with the police.

Queer Podcast is a queer facilitated 8 week series hosted on Tuesday evenings between 7-8pm.
This is a drop-in event, and we understand that you may not be free each Tuesday evening, or perhaps there's a week or two's worth of content that you'd prefer not to discuss, it's okay! We encourage folks to be attentive to their limits and care for themselves and one another.
Participation in the discussion is optional, if you'd like to join us just to listen to your fellow queers share thoughts and perspectives you are welcome to do so.
For years, Toronto's Gay Village worried a serial killer was in their midst. Men were disappearing from the neighbourhood but police insisted there was no evidence of foul play. Then, in January 2018, police arrested Bruce McArthur for the murders of eight men. Police are now re-opening dozens of unsolved murders from the Village, dating back to 1975. Journalist Justin Ling has covered this story for over five years and now he's going back to shed light on these long-forgotten murders.
About Queer Podcast Club
Why a Podcast?
Noah specifically loves to learn about queer history but has a tendency to get really sleepy while reading books, but podcasts are Noah's jam. Knowing he's not alone, and there are many of us who absorb information differently, it's our hope that Queer Podcast creates an additional space for queer folks to come together and explore our complex community and the intersectionalities that affect so many of us.
Hosts of Queer Podcast Club
Queer Podcast Club is hosted by two queer facilitators, Noah & Zoe. Noah (he/him) is a white settler trans guy who likes to learn about queer history and collect queer t-shirts (seriously, he has A LOT). Zoe (they/them) is a settler, child of refugee parents, Indian, and gender non-conforming. Zoe likes to discuss marginalization within the queer community and listen to all sorts of podcasts. Both of these lovely folks have a passion for sharing queer knowledge and building community, which is why they are excited to be hosting the first edition of the Queer Podcast Club.
How Does it Work?
Each Tuesday evening between 7 to 8 PM EDT starting on June 15th we will meet virtually on Zoom to debrief 1 episode of the podcast series. Discussion will begin shortly after 7 PM EDT. We ask that you listen to the episode before we meet each week. In the case you forget to listen to the episode, the room will be open at 6 PM EDT to play the episode. This time will be unmonitored and provided simply to listen or refresh!
Who can join?
This event series is open to all members of the LGBT2Q+ community and we do mean everyone! Our two-spirit, ace, bi, pan, trans, non-binary, intersex, queer friends are welcome to join us from anywhere!
Since this series is virtual there are no geographic boundaries, you're welcome to join in from anywhere!
We do recommend participants are over the age of 18, however, if you are under age please discuss with your adult as some of the content and subject matter is heavy.
Oppressive attitudes and behaviour -- including but not limited to misogyny, transphobia, racism, fatphobia, and ableism -- are not welcome here.
