-Featuring offerings, artwork, prints, pottery, jewelry, t-shirts & CDs by Indigenous, Two Spirit & Queer artists, musicians, medicine makers, earthworkers, health practitioners, etc.

Background & Why We Are Fundraising:

-Aamjiwnaang FN, part of the treaty #29 territory is located on the banks of the beautiful St. Clair River, near the settlement of Sarnia. Surrounded by Canada’s Chemical Valley, which makes up 40% of Canada’s petro-chemical industry. A frontline community that faces many long term affects, but still holds their cultures and traditions as many ancestors have before to protect and care for the land.

Aamjiwnaang Water Gathering: Gathering of the Clans is sharing water teachings and ceremonies of the treaty #29 to everyone in relation to protecting the Great Lakes. Elders from all around the area sharing their teachings, ceremonies, history, traditional knowledge, and culture around water. Bringing in the importance of responsibilities of each clan and responsibilities to Indigenous communities in a decolonized traditional structures of clans and councils/ caucus. For people to learn how to function in their clans/ councils/ caucus during the gathering and continue to after the gathering. Leaving the gathering with the knowledge on ways they can continue to protect the sacred waters in their own communities.

Toxic Tours is a grassroots community member running tour about the history, stories, and information about the Chemical Valley. Running for 5 years the tours have grown and created a great amount of awareness around the impacts of environmental racism on Indigenous Communities.

Funds raised at this event will go directly to Indigenous youth from Aamjiwnaang & Two Spirit organizers who are putting together Aamjiwnaang's Water Gathering/ Gathering of the Clans, to cover gathering costs.
