Queer Events. The future is Queer.

Queer Events (QE) is a local 2SLGBTQIA+ organization committed to working towards a strong, inclusive & accessible Queer community.

Queer Events operates in Deshkan Ziibiing, which is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lenape and Attawandaron Nations – each of whom have left their lasting mark upon the history of this area. Today, Deshkan Ziibiing and the surrounding area are subject to the Upper Canada treaties and specifically the Longwoods Treaty of 1822.

Queer Events encourages you to read our full Solidarity Statement and take further steps to raise your awareness, sensitivity and knowledge of Indigenous Rights and Communities.

QE was founded in 2016 by a small group of 2SLGBTQIA+ folks who combined their skills and resources to start a community group focused on creating opportunities to connect while also providing meaningful contributions in order to work towards a more diverse and welcoming queer community for anyone who identifies as 2SLGBTQIA+.

Our initial contribution was QueerEvents.ca, a dynamic website with all the information, resources and knowledge anyone in our community may need to ensure they are informed, have access to options and can connect to their local 2SLGBTQIA+ community. This serves to break down a number of barriers to access and empowers individuals.

Queer Events has grown to develop a number of programs and initiatives that aim to ensure inclusive, queer-centric opportunities and resources exist in our local communities.

QE Programs & Initiatives are created to address gaps, create opportunities and hold spaces for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. This is what inspired us to create initiatives such as London's Annual Queer Prom for Youth, House of Anansi and more recently QE launched Food for Queers, a community based response to food insecurities and COVID-19.

These programs and initiatives are just some of the avenues Queer Events utilizes to contribute towards a stronger, more inclusive and welcoming queer community. To find our more about please see QE Programs & Initiatives.

Please Note: Queer Events is not affiliated with any other group or organization. We are independent!

House of Anansi acts to create and promote events and spaces by the Queer Indigenous and Queer People of Colour community.

This group brings together individuals from both the Queer Indigenous and Queer People of Colour communities to define community within ourselves, and not through others, to connect and work together towards creating more inclusive and welcoming spaces in our city.
