Synopsis

How do you find meaning, hope and love after becoming victim to a crime that forever changes the course of your life? Laura Marie Wayne's directorial debut, Love, Scott poetically explores this question and more.

Love, Scott follows the life of Wayne's friend, openly gay musician Scott Jones, three years after he was the victim of an attack outside of a club in Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Now paralyzed from the waist down, Jones's curiosity, charm and sense of humour remain intact, as do the family and community that surround him. While this documentary addresses small-town homophobia and the failings of the justice system (the assailant was never charged with a hate crime), Jones's incredible resilience is very much the heart of the film.

Using old family photos and moving music that includes a soundtrack by Sigur Rós, Wayne creates a tender tribute not only to her dear friend, but to the human spirit.
